A 53-year-old man is facing court after a woman was allegedly punched in the face in Wellington at the weekend. The woman, who didn’t want to be named, was walking down Ghuznee St when she saw the man staring at her and saying something. She took her headphones off one ear to ask if he had said something when he came up to her and punched her in the face.

Another woman saw the assault and snapped a photo of the alleged offender, which was shared on social media to warn others. The woman had no serious injuries but a red cheek for a while. She decided to file a report with the police after talking with her mum about the incident.
