Lightning struck an Air New Zealand plane route to Bali, forcing it to return to Auckland. Flight NZ64, traveling from Auckland to Denpasar, was diverted back to Auckland.
Flight NZ65 from Denpasar to Auckland has also been cancelled. Air New Zealand’s head of flight operations, Hugh Pearce, stated that lightning strikes were not uncommon and that aircraft were designed with this in mind.
The airline is working to re-accommodate customers in Auckland and Bali on the next available flights, demonstrating its commitment to customer satisfaction despite unforeseen circumstances.
