A man and a woman have been arrested in connection with a homicide investigation in Auckland, New Zealand.
This follows the discovery of an unidentified woman’s body in the Gulf Harbour waters in March. The pair, both aged 36, appeared at the North Shore District Court on Monday.
The information can now be reported for the first time as the suppressions have lapsed. They were arrested after attempting to leave the country.
Both are facing charges of offering an indignity to a dead human body. The defence counsel’s application for continued name suppression was declined, but their names are still suppressed due to a pending appeal.
The police prosecutor successfully sought a take-down order and suppression of the charges. However, the prosecutor no longer sought continuation due to the publicity already occurring.
