A man was hit by a car carrying robbers outside a shop in Auckland, even though bystanders tried to help. On Friday night, four robbers took cash and cigarettes from the Smart Deal Bazaar in Sandringham despite the efforts of people who tried to stop them.

Surveillance footage from a camera outside the store showed two men outside just before midnight on Friday, June 14. A grey SUV ran into the two men, one of whom tried to dodge the car while the other was hit unexpectedly.

The latter landed on the car’s hood and was thrown forward when the car stopped. Afterward, four robbers got out of the car and entered the shop, while the man who was hit miraculously got up and walked away.

The robbers then quickly emerged from the shop with stolen goods. As they tried to escape, two passersby were seen throwing items at the robbers and their getaway car. One of the passersby was seen hitting one of the robbers through the car’s open door before the vehicle drove away.

The NZ Indian Business Association expressed concern about the violence in a social media post, asking, “Is this the new normal we are being taught to live with?” A police spokesperson confirmed that they are investigating the incident.
