An Auckland man is facing serious charges

A 21-year-old man in Auckland has been charged with two counts of kidnapping, aggravated robbery, aggravated wounding, unlawfully taking a motor vehicle, and assaulting with intent to injure.

This is in connection with an alleged “violent kidnapping and assault” of two men in Westmere last month.

The incident took place on July 2. The men were lured to the area under the guise of buying a vehicle, but they were forced into a waiting vehicle, compelled to withdraw money, and then assaulted.

Both men were hospitalized, and the suspect has now been charged. The police will oppose bail and have not ruled out the possibility of further charges.

This incident occurred after a similar one in Sandringham in early June. Two men are already before the court accused of kidnapping.
