A body has been discovered in the search for a missing five-year-old boy near Tiniroto, west of Gisborne.
The boy’s family reported that divers found the body in a pond at around 3:45 pm.
The search included the police, land search, and rescue teams.
Many volunteers, members of the public, dogs, and a helicopter were also part of the operation.
Tai Rāwhiti area commander Inspector Darren Paki mentioned that there has been an overwhelming outpouring of support.
The Tai Rāwhiti community, along with many others, are willing to provide assistance.
