Car that fatally struck a person in Wellington has been identified

A fatal crash on a busy central Wellington street has been identified, and police are seeking the driver of a white Toyota Aqua to come forward.

Initial inquiries suggest the driver may not have been aware of the collision.

The incident occurred on Ghuznee St at around 10.50 pm on June 17, and the victim was hospitalised and later died from their injuries.

The Terrace Tunnel was closed on the night of the incident, and traffic was diverted to Ghuznee St.

Police are seeking witnesses or witnesses of a similar make and model car around Ghuznee St or heading north towards the Hutt Valley.

Several people have come forward with information and spoken to police since the tragic incident.

Information can be provided by calling 105 or making an online report at 105.police.govt.nz using “Update Report.”
