A gang-related incident occurred at a Wairoa rugby match, resulting in injuries and the use of firearms.
Police were called to Hunter-Brown St at around 3 pm on Saturday.
Wairoa Response Manager Senior Sergeant Scott Leighton confirmed that weapons were involved, but no firearms were used.
Police are following positive lines of inquiry to identify the perpetrators and continue working to piece together the incident.
