Police have reopened their investigation into the death of a four-year-old girl named Alestra Kepa-Hati in Northland, New Zealand, nearly nine years ago.

Alestra suffered a broken arm, pelvis, and two head injuries. These injuries occurred two weeks before her death while she was living with caregivers in rural Kaikohe.

The Northland CIB is seeking information from anyone who had seen Alestra or had any involvement with her or her two younger siblings after August 28, 2015.

The last day Alestra was seen by anyone other than her caregivers, she was uninjured and healthy.

Detective Sergeant Natalie Syddall believes these injuries did not just happen and that the community needs help.

Information can be provided in person at a local police station, by calling the 105 reporting line, or anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
