A shopper in Auckland reported a frightening incident at Westfield Newmarket. During a fight involving eight teenage boys, one of them pulled out a knife.
Police arrived to handle the situation and confiscated the knife after speaking with the youths. The altercation happened outside Woolworths, and a barefoot boy was seen holding the knife at his side.
According to the witness, no one intervened to stop the fight because of the rowdy nature of the situation.
Although three security personnel tried to calm things down, they were outnumbered by the number of youths involved.
Authorities are conducting ongoing investigations into the incident. The Herald has approached Westfield for comment.
