A man has been arrested after ramming a car driven by a member of the public in a chase involving armed police.
Cordons were set up in Te Horo, north of Wellington after a vehicle of interest was spotted in Waikanae.
Officers saw the 35-year-old at a checkpoint in Otaki, where he fled in the vehicle and reversed into a public car.
The vehicle crashed shortly after, and the man was taken into custody.
He is being treated for injuries, and traffic management is in place while the man’s car is being removed.
