Two people were seriously injured in Christchurch CBD following an alleged assault on Sunday morning. Police were called to the scene at 4:10 am after the reported assault.
The two were taken to the hospital in serious condition. Initial indications suggest the individuals involved are known to each other.
Additionally, there was a multi-vehicle crash near Pukaki in Canterbury that left three people injured.
Emergency services were called to the scene on State Highway 8 Mount Cook Rd. Two people were seriously injured, while a third sustained moderate injuries.
The highway was closed north of the SH80/SH8 intersection but has since been reopened.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances of both incidents.
