The Northland Police are reopening their investigation into the unexplained death of 4-year-old Alestra Kepa-Hati, who passed away in 2015, nearly nine years ago.
Detective Senior Sergeant Christian Fouhy stated that progress is being made in the historic investigation, with authorities identifying two individuals of interest and gathering details about the circumstances surrounding the child’s death.
Kepa-Hati was under the care of guardians in rural Kaikohe when she died in October 2015.
The police are urging anyone who saw Kepa-Hati or had any involvement with her or her two younger siblings to come forward.
Fouhy emphasized that any information might be necessary to solve the case.
