Police have seized a 2024 white double-cab Toyota Hilux Utility after a man was found seriously injured on State Highway 12 near Waimamaku.
Despite first responders’ efforts, the man died at the scene. A scene investigation and interviews with people were conducted, and a nearby property has been secured.
Anyone traveling on State Highway 12 between 7:45 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. should contact the police.
Motorists who may have dashcam footage or seen the vehicle or someone walking on the road near rapid numbers 6700-6900 are urged to contact the police.
Waimamaku is a rural community on the west coast of the Far North, located along the banks of the Waimamaku River.
The area of interest to police was 4km south of the township.
