Police vehicle collided with a member of the public's vehicle

A police vehicle in Hamilton, New Zealand, crashed into a member of the public’s vehicle while responding to a backup call.

The second incident involves a police vehicle in Hamilton within 12 hours. The first occurred on the Fairfield Bridge, where a police vehicle was damaged.

The second incident occurred when a vehicle of interest was sighted on Vernall St. but continued and turned into a driveway. The driver attempted to flee but was arrested.

The driver then crashed into a member of the public’s vehicle at the intersection of Kahikatea Dr and Alison St, while responding to a call for help.

No injuries were reported; one officer sustained a minor wrist injury but did not require medical attention. The road was blocked, and inquiries are ongoing.

A 21-year-old man is set to appear in Hamilton District Court on charges of assaulting police, driving without a license, and failing to stop for police.
