Three people were injured in a “mass disorder” incident in Auckland, where a man hit three people with a car before crashing into a pole. Police were notified around 10.20 pm, and one person received moderate to serious injuries.
Two people were discharged from the hospital after receiving moderate injuries. The fight broke out at a nearby bar and spread to both sides of Ponsonby Road.
A 24-year-old man was arrested at the scene and is due to appear in the Auckland District Court on three charges of injuring with intent to injure.
The Ponsonby Business Association general manager, Vivienne Rosenberg, said the fight was concerning and would meet with hospitality venues to find ways to reduce alcohol-related risks.
The incident came just over a month after a man was shot dead on the street on a Sunday night.
