Starting from 1 July, the fares for Wellington buses, trains, and ferries will increase by 10% due to the increasing cost of operating the city’s transportation system.
The Greater Wellington Regional Council made this decision during the annual fare review in February.

As a result, passengers will have to pay an extra $0.18 to $1.60 when traveling across the network’s 14 zones. Importantly, half-price off-peak fares will continue to be available for passengers using a Snapper electronic payment card, and discounted fares will be offered to Community Services Card holders and tertiary students.
