The Prime Minister stopped over at Tavua District School yesterday afternoon where he advised more than 300 evacuees to focus on cleaning their homes.

Speaking to FBC News, Bainimarama says most Fijians who were expected to be affected by flooding moved to evacuation centers during the weekend.

“Yes I think they have done very well. There’s nothing we can do with the flood and strong winds but the communities came together to help themselves like I said these people being sheltered in Tavua District have been here since Sunday so they prepared themselves well.”

Meanwhile, around 719 evacuees are sheltered at ten evacuation centers in Tavua.
