Police found sawn-off shotguns and meth during arrests in Glen Innes

Two people were arrested in Auckland’s Glen Innes after a report of “suspicious activity” and the discovery of several firearms and 70 grams of methamphetamine.

Police were called at 2.25 am this morning after two men were seen acting suspiciously on Farringdon Street. Two vehicles were stopped, and one was found abandoned on Jellicoe Road.

A 22-year-old man was taken into custody, while a 29-year-old man was found nearby with a 0.22 handgun. The vehicle had been stolen several days earlier and travelling moments earlier.

Inside, two loaded shotguns, ammunition, two cut-down bolt action rifles, a pistol, and other firearm parts and ammunition were found.

The 29-year-old faces several charges, including seven counts of unlawful possession of a firearm.

Also, possession for the supply of methamphetamine and unlawfully taking a motor vehicle. He is scheduled to appear in the Auckland District Court today.
