Police Chief of Operations ACP Maretino Qiolevu says a team has been set up solely to investigate the death of the 22-year-old tertiary student.

ACP Qiolevu confirms a phone was found beside the body. Her family had earlier confirmed that they were trying to get in touch with her on Saturday but their calls didn’t go through.

Meanwhile, an eye witness Rusiate Wawiri who works at a construction site near to the crime scene says the body was discovered just after 7am on Monday.

“I came here at work at around 7.30am. I was just about to open the container at work when the guy that found the body down here ran up screaming that there is a body down there. I just took a walk when I saw the body lying down beside where it was found, same time I called the police and they came in half an hour later.”

Wawiri says tyre marks were also visible at the crime scene.

“There were like tyre marks right to where the body was lying, looks like the body was just dumped there.”

Meanwhile, Prasad’s neighbours say they saw her alive on Friday evening while some saw her on Saturday morning.

She was last seen going to a canteen in Tamavua.
