Update: 7:45am – Six people who are charged with various counts of theft and conspiracy to defraud in obtaining a gain from Police had appeared in the Suva Magistrates Court.

Kamal Mishra who is a Police Officer is charged 46 counts of theft and 44 counts of conspiracy to defraud in obtaining a gain from Police.

It is alleged that during various days this year he stole about $3000 by using a service station fuel card which was issued to the Fiji Police Force.

He has been remanded in custody till Friday so that it can be found if he has travel documents.

Esiteri Tapele who is an employee of a service station is charged with 29 counts of conspiracy to defraud in obtaining a gain from Police and 29 counts of theft.

She has been remanded in custody till Friday and she has to find two sureties for her bail.

Kavinesh Prasad who is also a employee of a service station is charged with three of counts of conspiracy to defraud in obtaining a gain from Police and 3 counts of theft.

He has been released on bail and second phase disclosures will be served to him on the 22nd of next month.

Another employee Kameli Volau is charged with 8 counts of conspiracy to defraud in obtaining a gain from Police and three counts of theft and has been remanded till Friday to present two sureties for bail.

Aniesh Kumar has been charged with 13 counts conspiracy to defraud in obtaining a gain from Police and two counts of theft has also been remanded in custody till Friday.

The last accused Bimlesh Maharaj has been charged with 15 counts of conspiracy to defraud in obtaining a gain from Police and 15 counts of theft and has been released on bail and second phase disclosures will be served on the 22nd of August.
