This is after a recent survey conducted by the Fiji Women’s Rights Movement revealed that some victims of rape and sexual assault were mistreated by police officers.

“The Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre has come and assisted us with training. We need to go through that training. We are no experts with dealing with this issues. They have come and assisted us with training on the rights on women and children, how we should handle them, the sensitivities around it and the trauma that they go through. So we have taken measures address this.”

However, Qiliho says that those who are mistreated by officers need to raise their concerns, so action can be taken against these officers.

Rape Victim’s medical respondents, Medical Services Pacific also conducts training sessions and counselling with new cadets and the Police sexual offenses unit.
