Updated: 10.40pm – Police are trying to identify a man taken to Wellington Hospital this afternoon in a critical condition.
Emergency services attended the scene on Warspite Avenue in Porirua just after 4pm where they say a man had “exited a car”.

Officers are trying to piece together what happened and work out who the man is.
He is described as Māori or Polynesian, in his mid-thirties, 185 centimetres tall and anyone with information is being urged to come forward.
