Fiji’s Cabinet has approved the formation of a task force to study the harmful effects of pornography and to consider banning access for individuals under 18.
The task force, co-chaired by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Communications, will conduct a feasibility study.

Minister for Women, Children, and Social Protection Lynda Tabuya compared the effects of pornography to those of methamphetamine and cocaine.
She emphasized the need for a national campaign to promote responsible internet use and highlighted the messaging app Telegram as a significant platform.
The overarching goal of the task force is to address the negative impact of pornography on the brain.
