UPDATED: 6:36am – The search for two men missing in rugged bush in Tongariro National Park will continue today – its ninth day.

Searchers found nothing of interest yesterday, but as a result of a review of information, have identified further areas for searching today.

60 people were deployed in the search area in the bush today, made up of Police and LandSAR volunteers.

They are looking for 21-year-old Vincent Taurima of Hawke’s Bay and 26-year-old Hakopa Ngaronoa of Palmerston North.

The pair abandoned an allegedly stolen vehicle and fled into the bush after a police chase on Saturday last week.
