Fiji’s road death toll has risen to 38 this year, compared to 62 in the same period last year.
Setoki Niqara, 27, died on Tuesday morning in a crash along the Kings Highway between Nalawa and Rakiraki Town.
The incident occurred when the driver failed to negotiate a bend, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and crash into a roadside market.
All occupants were rushed to Rakiraki Hospital, where Niqara was pronounced dead.
The victim, the youngest of five siblings, lived with his family in Rakiraki Town.
His elder sister described him as humble and kind-hearted, and his death has left his family devastated. Investigations continue.
