The Wellington Phoenix football club has tabled an offer for Fijian skipper and A League Golden Boot Winner, Roy Krishna. Krishna, who is off-contract with the Nix, has been in a devastating form this season, and apart from being the top scorer, has also won the ABC A League Player of the Year.

This has seen a number of clubs circling for the signature of the Siberia man, but the Phoenix remain hopeful that Krishna will remain. Wellington Phoenix general manager David Dome, in an interview with Radio Sport’s Jason Pine, says they want to retain their top marksman.

“We’d love to keep Roy (Krishna). No doubt about it. Put it this way, we not going to die wandering. There is something on the table to Roy now. He has been a fantastic servant for this club. He has improved every year from the first days he was here as you have mentioned a number of times, he was Paul Ifill’s replacement. Each year he has got better, better and better and now has the Golden Boot in the A League. He has achieved all that in Wellington. We know that he loves it here, his wife has very strong relationship between Wellington and Fiji, and we looking at how we can maker that work for him. Let’s just say we want to keep him here and the offer is on the table.”

With the big clubs such as Sydney FC and Melbourne City, reported to be interested, which Dome says they are aware of.

“There is no doubt that there is pretty big money offers on the table. We have tabled what we think is a very very strong offer and we hopeful that he wants to stay here in Wellington.”

The Fiji Airways brand ambassador, is expected into the country later this month to start preparations for the Pacific Games with the Fijian national team.
