The stunning Huka Falls is the most visited natural attraction in New Zealand for good reason. The sound of nearly a quarter of a million liters of water per second erupting from a natural gorge will greet you from afar, even before you see the magnificent body of water.
The water flow rate is so intense that it could fill an Olympic swimming pool in just 11 seconds. It is highly recommended to experience the thunderous spectacle up close via a jet boat or river cruise, but be warned: The water from the substantial falls will spray your face, and in winter, it’ll be particularly icy.
