Teacher found guilty of raping Year three students | NZ FIJI TIMES

UPDATED: 9:12am – High Court Judge, Justice Sunil Kumar agreed with the unanimous opinion of the three assessors and found a school teacher, guilty of two counts of rape.

The victims in this case were two students who both were eight-years of age at the time of the offence. The Court heard that between October and November, 2006 the accused had carnal knowledge with the minors, without their consent.

It is alleged the accused would take the two girls to the last cubicle in the classroom and make them sit on his lap where he proceeded to sexually assault them.

Judge Sharma while delivering his judgement said the accused was in a position of authority and from his experience as a teacher, he knew the complainants were eight-years-old, who had almost zero knowledge about sexual activity.

He found the accused guilty as charged and convicted him accordingly.
