UPDATED: 6:30am – Acting Prime Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has stressed that teachers should not be scared about their 5-year contracts.

Speaking at the 2017/2018 National Budget Roadshow at FNU Samabula, Sayed-Khaiyum said contractual form of employment is a norm all around the world.

An FNU student asked Sayed-Khaiyum at the roadshow about the teachers contracts. Responding to the question, the Acting Prime Minister said there is nothing to be scared about.

Sayed-Khaiyum also says that information that teachers cannot get loans from banks because of their 5 year contracts is not true.
