Two former Auckland Airport baggage handlers have been jailed. The discovery of an unclaimed backpack containing 4.6 kg of methamphetamine.
The drugs were found hidden in the backpack, which had arrived on a flight from Los Angeles.
The men, aged 24 and 20, were jointly convicted for attempting to possess methamphetamine for supply.
In the Manukau District Court, they were sentenced to three years, three months, two years, and nine months in jail.
Customs said both baggage handlers were suspiciously acting around unclaimed luggage during the incident.
The men were also encouraged to report unusual and suspicious behaviour to help protect communities from the devastating harm caused by methamphetamine.
