Updated: 10:00am – “Know that when I say that I am fighting for all Fijians, I am also fighting for you.”

Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama made this comment while addressing former Fiji residents at the Black and White Ball in San Francisco, California last night.

Bainimarama says as he continues to push to grow and unite Fiji, he will always remember his time in San Francisco.

He told the former Fiji residents that he cannot think of a better way to have celebrated the first Fiji Day in America.

While your smiles and kind greetings have made my delegation feel at home here in California, I have been even more touched by your words of encouragement.

He told the people in San Francisco that it gives him great reassurance to know that, thousands of miles away, they are still keeping Fiji in their thoughts and prayers.

He says over the past few days, he has seen and talked to so many accomplished and talented members of the Fijian diaspora community.

And they are blessed to have such great ambassadors to Fiji spread far and wide around the globe.

Bainimarama says the smiles these people share with their neighbours can turn into diplomacy and their words and cherished memories can be converted into increased tourism and investment.
