Multiple people have been shot in a suspected “murder-suicide” at a primary school in southern California, police say.
North Park Elementary in the city of San Bernardino is on lockdown after the attack in a classroom, officials say.
San Bernardino Police Chief Jarrod Burguan said he believed it was a “murder suicide”.
“Two adults are deceased in a classroom.
“We believe the suspect is down and there’s no further threat.”
Two people, possible students, had been transported to hospital in an unknown condition, Mr Burguan said.
Police were working with emergency workers and fire crews at the scene, he said.
Maria Garcia of the San Bernardino police department told the news broadcaster ABC that the situation was contained to the campus.
She said three people including a teacher had been injured, and the assailant was also injured.
