Fiji’s Health Ministry is seeking donor funding to address the rising number of HIV cases.
The country recorded 552 new cases in the first six months of this year, with 15% linked to injectable drug use.
Health Minister Dr. Atonio Lalabalavu says that while $200,000 has been allocated for HIV prevention, more is needed.
The ministry is also working on increasing access to HIV testing and treatment services.
Also, promoting harm reduction initiatives and reducing stigma and discrimination against HIV and drug users.
