The Fiji Corrections Service (FCS) has announced that 11 officers will face disciplinary action following an investigation into misconduct allegations at the Suva Remand Center.

The investigation revealed that some officers were receiving favors from detainee Jung Young Kim, who was held at the center.

The officers and their families received free meals and groceries from Grace Road businesses in and around the Suva area.

FCS Commissioner Dr. Jalesi Nakarawa stated that such actions violated the ethical standards and regulations governing the conduct of FCS personnel.

He emphasized the importance of the officers’ integrity and professionalism and urged measures to prevent the recurrence of such incidents and reinforce the importance of ethical behavior among all personnel.

Further details of the disciplinary actions will be managed internally, respecting the privacy and rights of all involved.
