This high-stakes match follows their recent encounter with Mexico at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, and marks Aotearoa New Zealand’s second match against two of the three FIFA World Cup 2026 co-hosts in succession.

With the FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifying campaign looming in October and November, the All Whites are making the most of their final international friendlies. These matches serve as a crucial part of the team’s strategic preparation before the campaign kicks off.

All Whites head coach Darren Bazeley believes that scheduling games against two co-hosts in one of the countries is good preparation for the team, especially before starting their qualifying campaign in October.

The All Whites are in Vanuatu at the OFC Men’s Nations Cup 2024, where they will face Tahiti in the semi-finals. They finished top of Group A with a 3-0 win over the Solomon Islands and a 4-0 victory over the hosts.
