Fiji’s Fijiana sevens team finished 12th at the Paris Olympics, losing 21-15 to South Africa’s 11th and 12th place playoff.
It was the team’s worst finish since their first outing in Rio eight years ago.

South Africa scored the first points with a converted try, but Fiji was reduced to six for two minutes.
South Africa capitalized with their second try, leading 14-nil at halftime.
Fiji lost three consecutive unconverted tries to Kolora Lomani, Verenaisi Bari, and Talei Wilson. In the final, New Zealand defeated Canada 19-12 to retain the gold medal.
