According to double Olympic gold medalist Jerry Tuwai, four players have dropped out of the Fiji 7s squad, which is aiming for a spot in the Paris Olympic Games.

Tuwai disclosed this after a farewell celebration for Fiji’s Olympic athletes in Suva.

At the event, he received the $33,000 promised by the previous government to build his house. Some of the players missing from the 20 who attended the event were Vatemo Ravouvou, Napolioni Bolaca, Sevuloni Mocenacagi, and Manueli Maisamoa.

Tuwai mentioned that the team has gone through a mix of emotions this week but is focused on moving forward. He also stated that five more players would be dropped next week and that the team would concentrate on training, discipline, and other aspects of their game.

Tuwai expressed readiness to try for a third gold medal if coach Kolinisau gives him another chance, having won at the 2016 Games in Rio, Brazil, and the 2020 Games in Tokyo, Japan.
