He has been a regular member of the Fijian Sevens team since 2014, and in 2019, he won the Sevens Player of the Year award, followed by the World Rugby Men’s Sevens Player of the Decade award the next year.

Tuwai is the only player to contribute to Fiji’s five consecutive Hong Kong titles and served as the captain of the Fiji team that secured a silver medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

In July 2021, he led Fiji to their second Olympic Gold Medal, making him the first double gold medallist in Rugby Sevens. Tuwai and the team are expected to return to Fiji this Sunday.
