The 2024 Pacific Nations Championship is on the horizon. Flying Fijians coach Mick Byrne has made a significant move by selecting 23 Fijian Drua players in his 30-member squad.
Tevita Ikanivere will be the team’s captain due to Waisea Nayacalevu’s absence.
Six new players, Kavaia Tagivetaua, Mesake Vocevoce, Apisalome Vota, Epeli Momo, Adrea Cocagi, and Vuate Karawalevu, will make international debuts.
The squad will assemble on Friday and have their first training camp on Saturday.
The team includes a mix of young and experienced players, with a notable young leader in Tevita Ikanivere.
Fiji is in pool A alongside Samoa and Tonga, while Canada, Japan, and the USA are in pool B.
Fiji will play Samoa in round 1 of the competition on Friday at 6 p.m. at the HFC Stadium in Suva.
