Fiji’s head coach, Sunil Kumar, is proud of his team’s achievement in the OFC Men’s Under-16 Football Championship.
Despite his team losing to New Zealand in the final, Kumar said that the boys made Fiji proud.
Fiji’s journey to the FIFA Under-17 World Cup began with a 2-1 win over Tahiti in the semi-final.
The team showed significant improvement in the final. They held New Zealand to a 1-1 tie at the break but ended the game with a 1-3 score. Earlier in the pool play, New Zealand defeated Fiji 7-1.
Kumar praised his players for their performance throughout the tournament and their achievement of qualifying for the World Cup. The team is expected to arrive in Fiji on Wednesday.
