UPDATED: 8:55am – The funeral of Sir Colin Meads takes place today, and the rugby club hosting it says it’s humbling to be able to do so.
Pine Tree will be laid to rest in Te Kuiti, with the public part of his funeral being held at the Les Munro Centre at 1pm. Friends and family will gather where it all began for the 55 test All Black – at the Waitete Rugby Club.

President Jason Church says it means a lot to be included in planning for the day, by Sir Colin and his family.
“The significance of Pine Tree and the legend he is, to have them come back and let us host his wake at Waitete Rugby Club I think is immeasurable.”
