Community Service Award 2019

The 2019 NZ Fiji Times Business awards to acknowledge the leaders and heroes of our community who strive to make our society better. NZ Fiji Times choose four such remarkable people to acknowledge their work and contribution
NZ Fiji Times will continue to acknowledge the leaders and influencers of our community with the community services awards in future events.

Prithi Pal Singh Basra

The first award went to Prithipal Singh Basra, a queen appointed member
of the New Zealand order of merit. His presence in many events including
political meetings, social gatherings, business sessions and entertainment
programs is seen as a source of respect and comfort. He has been the President
of the Pukekohe Indian Association, the New Zealand Central Indian Association,
Sikh Society and many other organisations.

Krish Naidu

The second award went Krish Naidu the president of The Fiji Girmit Foundation of New Zealand. The foundation aims to establish The Fiji Indian identity as part of the pacific identity. They also are striving to have Fiji Indians listed separately in the New Zealand census so we could get a fair data of what Fiji Indian issues are. The Foundation also focus on remembering, celebrating and advocating the Fijian Indian heritage, identity and diaspora

Sam Achary

The Third awardee was Sam Achary from Ann’s Funeral Home and Onsite Cremations. Sam Achary is a remarkable leader of the Fijian Indian Community who is famous for being there for the community in there time of need. He helped found The New Zealand-Fiji Community Services & Project which set up a funeral home for the Fiji Indian Community.

Atesh Narayan

The Final Winner was Atesh Narayan; and immigration consultant from south Auckland. He said; ‘This award means so much to me as I believe that community is the foundation of my business. I enjoy the work I do in the Soccer and charitable organizations. Not only am I helping people. Charities have helped me grow in confidence and passion. I believe life is about giving back to all ages and generations”

It is well -known recognized brand in the New Zealand market for more than three years for providing quality made kitchens with superior service and workmanship for residential and commercial marketplace.

Chachi’s Green Garden takeaway famous for its salivating authentic Fiji food bagged the award for Medium Business Excellence in customer Service. Chachi’s food is made with the love, spice and Fijian twist which take you back home with every bite.

Guru Foods won the award for Small Business Excellence in customer Service. The owners said that they were glad and thankful to their team for all their hard work and thanked NZ Fiji Times for the award which will motivate them to reach greater heights
