Updated: 8:16am – A 36-year-old man has been sentenced to 13 years by Lautoka Judge Justice Aruna Aluthge for raping his six-year-old niece.
Justice Aluthge stated that the man raped the girl on 2nd June 2014 in Rakiraki.

He said that the rape of children is very prevalent in Fiji and the courts and the society cannot condone any form of sexual assault on children.
Justice Aluthge adds that the offender must be severely punished and be incarcerated to ensure that the young generation are safe and secure.
A non-parole period of 10 years has been set.
