He says of these reported cases, 8 suicides and 12 attempted suicides involved children under the age of 17 years.

Qiliho says most of these young people attempt to commit suicide with reasons relating to family issues, relationship issues,  disappointments, exam results and cyberbullying.

He says as the school holidays are nearing, students need to be aware of how and who they choose to spend their time with.

Qiliho urges all parents to listen to their children’s issues without being judgemental as they are living in a time where their issues maybe much bigger than what the adults are facing.

He also says this is a proud moment to be a Fijian as we have had representation in the COP 23 by two of our students, Timoci Naulusala and Shalvi Shakshi, the Fijian Rugby team creating history in the Rugby League World Cup, and also Fiji’s representation by Miss Nanise Rainima in the Miss World Pageant.

He congratulated the graduates and wished them the best for their future.

Meanwhile Suva Muslim College Dux and Most Outstanding Student, Farhan Afraaz Khan says hard work has paid off for him today.
