Emergency services were put on standby after a plane due to land at Christchurch Airport had suspected hydraulic issues.
A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokeswoman said emergency services were alerted about 8am on Wednesday.
Crews were put on standby but were told shortly after the plane landed safely, she said.
A Christchurch Airport spokeswoman said the issue was not being treated as an emergency situation and referred Stuff to Air New Zealand for comment.
An Air New Zealand spokeswoman said flight NZ8807 from Tauranga to Christchurch had a suspected hydraulic issue but landed safely just before 8.30am.
Emergency services were called as a precaution and the aircraft was being inspected by engineers, she said.
