An Auckland secondary school with 1500 understudies has distinguished less than 50 close contacts of an understudy who is one of three new Covid-19 local area cases.

Papatoetoe High school will be shut on Monday and Tuesday subsequent to being named as one of three areas visited by somebody who tried positive for Covid-19.

On Sunday, Covid-19 Response Minister Chris Hipkins and Director-General of Health Dr Ashley Bloomfield declared various areas the three new cases – a dad, mother and girl – went to in Auckland.

The girl, an understudy at Papatoetoe High School, was keep going at school on February 10. The school will be shut for two days as a safety measure and work is in progress to set up a testing office there.

School head Vaughan Couillault said all the understudy’s nearby school contacts had been recognized and were being reached.

Couillault said there were less than 50 close contacts and a serious enormous pool of easygoing contacts.

The school will be supporting its understudies and will give internet learning.

“This people group is helpless, and they might be frightened,” he said.

On Sunday evening, staff could be seen showing up at the school to set up for the testing station that would be open from tomorrow.

Mike Batty, who carries on a couple of entryways down from the passage to Papatoetoe High School, which his child Gabriel joins in, said neither of them were stressed over the situation.

He said the school was treating contacts of the tainted understudy as easygoing contacts and advising guardians to follow social removing rules.
