Updated: 6:51am – Acting Prime Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum breezed through the Parliamentary sitting although he was the only figure on the Government’s front bench.

On any other day when Parliament is in session, he would be flanked on his left by Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama and on his right by Minister for Agriculture and National Disaster Management Inia Seruiratu.

Minister for Defence and National Security Ratu Inoke Inoke would complete the powerful front bench which gives Mr Sayed-Khaiyum the moral support.

Behind him is Faiyaz Koya, Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism. But, the four are away overseas. Mr Bainimarama, Mr Seruiratu and Mr Koya are in London for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).

Ratu Inoke is in Kuala Lumpur attending the 16th Defence Services Asia Exhibition and Conference which ends on Thursday.

Mr Sayed-Khaiyum had no problem defending the frontline alone with his mix of strong knowledge and wit. Opposition attacks were no match.
