Update: 7:00 am – A Chinese engineer has given up on his search for love and decided to marry a robot. 31-year-old Zheng Jiajia who was tired of failing to find a human wife and the constant pressure from his family to get married, is now trying to find the love in his robo mate who he has named Yingying.
Apparently he dated her for two months before tying the knot with her in a ceremony that was attended by his mother and some close friends. Zheng designs robots for a living and it was at his workplace where he created Yingying.
The ‘bride’ can still not walk so Zheng carried her in his arms wherever she had to walk.
Zheng followed all the traditions of a Chinese wedding. In fact the bride’s head was also covered with a red cloth in accordance with the local traditions.
However, the wedding has not yet been officially recognised by the Chinese authorities.
He says that his family found it weird at first but now they are all fine with the presence of Yingying. Zheng is not the only one. There are several men in China who have married sex dolls.
