Police officers who are convicted for serious criminal offenses will be removed from the force.

Commissioner of Police Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho says they play an important role in keeping the nation safe and he will not condone officers breaking the law.

“Once they are charged they are put on interdiction that is on half their salaries and once convicted they are removed from the force and there have been constant reminders. Like i have said before i don’t condone petty cops within the organisation. We will treat them like any other ordinary citizen when they do wrong.”

Eleven police officers were charged for serious criminal offenses last month.

Office of the Director of Public prosecutions in a release said one was charged for theft of a laptop and ten others with assault causing bodily harm
